Healthcare Assistants

Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure measurement and new patient checks. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.

Practice Team

The practice manager is involved in managing all of the business aspects of the practice such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, finance, patient safety, premises and equipment and information technology. The practice manager supports the GPs and other medical professionals with delivering patient services and also helps to develop extended services to enhance patient care.

Our Practice Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of both surgeries. She will be happy to help you with any problems or queries you may have concerning the practice and will always welcome your comments – good or bad.

Working alongside her are 18 clerical, administrative and secretarial staff who are always ready to help you.

Reception

Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries, dealing with financial claims, dealing with patient records and carrying out searches and practice audits.

Healthcare Team

Physician Associates

Physician Associates are medically trained, generalist healthcare professionals, who work alongside doctors. We have three PAs at the surgery, who support with urgent triage, and see and examine patients.

Community Midwives

The local midwives are employed by Surrey & Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust and hold regular clinics at the surgery.

Community Nurses

We work with a District Nurse Team employed by Sussex Community Foundation Trust who provide specialist care and support to patients and their carers registered with the Poundhill Medical Group.

Care may be provided at home, in the surgery or other location as deemed appropriate. Referrals are welcomed from patients, their carers and other professionals.

The team can be contacted via OneCall at Crawley Hospital, 01293 228311.

Health Visitors

Health visitors are specially qualified nurses who give advice, support and counselling on a wide range of health issues and are involved particularly in the care of young children and their parents. They provide antenatal and postnatal support, building relationships with families to make sure that children learn, thrive and reach their full potential. The health visitors hold child health clinics at both Poundhill and Copthorne.

They can be contacted on 01273 242004.
