Improving the Experience of our Patients with Autism

Poundhill Medical has been working with Autism Support Crawley, ThumbsupWorld and Healthwatch Sussex to improve the experience of patients with Autism when accessing the Surgery. We have taken several steps including staff training, specific notes on patient’s records and a booklet that explains what to expect when you come to the surgery. Please have a look at the great short video that we have created:

Goodbye Dr Bower

After 23 years with the Practice, Dr Susan Bower will be retiring at the end of June 2014. All the Partners and staff would like to thank her for her years of dedication and hard work on behalf of the surgery in the care of its patients.

We would like to welcome Dr Isi Ikhide as the new GP Partner. Many of you will have met Dr Ikhide over the past year while she has worked at the surgery and we are pleased that she has accepted this position with us.

New service for patients over the age of 75

You may be aware that from April all practices are required to provide all their patients aged 75 and over with a named GP who will have overall responsibility for the care and support that our surgery provides to them.

As one of our patients in this age group your named GP will appear on your repeat prescription for medication.

Your named GP will have overall responsibility for the care and support that our surgery provides to you. This does not prevent you from seeing any GP in the practice as you currently do.

You do not need to take any further action.

If you require any further information about surgery opening times or any of our services, please refer to our Practice Leaflet or the dedicated area on the website.

Local Number

In addition to our 0844 numbers the Practice has introduced a geographic telephone number for patients.  This number will not be able to queue phone calls outside the surgery so patients may get an engaged tone at busy times.

The number is: 01293 540 620

**We now offer GP appointments on Monday evenings and Friday mornings and Nurse appointments early on Friday. These are available to all patients of Pound Hill and Copthorne but will all be conducted at the Pound Hill Branch of the Practice. Please contact the surgery for more details.

Children are now being routinely offered the new pneumococcal vaccine as part of the routine immunisation programme. There will be a catch-up campaign for children up to two years who have already started their immunisations. They will be contacted by their GP in the next few months to be vaccinated.
